Iron Gall Ink is a water-soluble ink that contains a combination of tannin, a plant-derived component found in tea leaves, and iron. These materials oxidize when they are exposed to air, giving them water and light resistance for greater durability. The oxidization process also causes a color change, gradually turning the vivid color of the ink to a deeper blackish hue over time.
